René Lacaille has been playing on stage for over 55years from his beginnings on the Island of la Reunion in popular balls with his father. Drums and accordion were his first instruments, then he palyed guitar, saxophone and nowadays Georgian pandouri, ukulele and accordina. From then he never stopped exploring the universe of the rhythms of the Indian Ocean, sega and maloya and has been creating much thanks to the contacts he had with other musical traditions when he met musicians from Africa, Madagascar, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, India and USA.

His journeys in Africa, Madagascar, South America and Europe, and the encounters with so many different musicians have influenced René’s music and fed his natural lyricism. Yet, while always being open to other music and creative experiences, he has, at the same time, enabled people from around the world to discover the music of his island.
Cordéon Kaméléon is the living proof of René’s faithfulness to the traditions in which he grew up as well as of his creativity and sense of universality. We are celebrating here 55 years of musical life! His music is like the chameleon, it changes colour according to his guests, but it is René’s music forever! It is full of his humour, his cheerful mood, his emotions and his serenity.
